TobiOS

An OS made by Tobias! purely a web based operating system build on top of Linux the OS that I am currently coding will be the submission for my university dissertation. As its quite a big task results from this project wont be available until early 2012.

Why a web based OS?? Think of the most common pice of software on most modern devices and you can probably come out with the modern web browser. Browsers are on PCs, Laptops and now emerging on smart phones, fridges and hopefully toaster! So TobiOS will take advantage of this by residing on one main central machine but accessible by multiple user on multiple devices without installing any additional software as the can just use their day to day browser. It opens up many possibilities on how user can interact and use an OS like this for productivity and personal entertainment.

Although I wont be realizing any builds of the OS until 2012 I will keep updates on how things are going on the site so keep an eye out.

Today marks the begining

I've been working on TobiOS for a year on an off coding small tests and researching the viability of the project. So as its core areas have been looked into and are ready to be put together much of the grunt work has been done. Let's not kid ourselves though today I start officially putting it all together and it's a big job.

There's still research to do and code to be coded before I can release anything to the public that is of any use but estimates are to have a look to where we've come to this Christmas. Hopefully a basic BETA build for testing and documents to show where the OS is and can go along with what is planned for its future.
